One of your colleagues from work is sad and depressed and you just hate that he is feeling that way. You wished that there was something you could do to make him happy, but what? Here are 20 things that will cheer him up:


1. Play ball!

cheer him up with a gameIf he likes some kind os sports, like, let's say football, talk to some other colleagues or friends or his and organize a game today, after work. Then go and tell him about it. If he really likes that sport, this will motivate him the entire day.


2. "For the best colleague in the world"

number 1Call the radio and tell them to read this message for your colleague: "For the best colleague in the whole world" and tell them to dedicate to him his favorite song. Then, tell him or a colleague close to him to turn on the radio, so that he can hear the message and song.


3. Flowers from ...

roses for your colleaguePay someone to bring your colleague a lot of roses at his office. Make sure that the flowers have a note that says: "From a secret admirer, for ..his name...". This will either make him laugh, if he suspects someone in the office of making a joke or he will be asking himself, who could the roses be from, and he will be glad all day long.


4. Ask for help

ask for helpAsk your colleague for help on something. Tell him that you have an important project to finish today or soon and that he is the only one who can help you finish it. After he has helped thank him like he has done you a great favor. He will feel pretty good about himself and you would have done a good deed.


5. Call a friend of his

Call a friend of his and tell him about the situation and ask him if he could do something to cheer your colleague up. Maybe he could send him an email or call him just to say hi.


6. Just talk

Just talk to him a little and maybe you can find out why is he sad about. Try t talk to him when he passes by your office or in the coffee break. Just start a chat with him and let him talk while you listen. This will help him relieve himself of that sadness and he will feel better.

awardsTalk to some colleagues and start a new award at the office. It could be anything from "The cleanest shoes award" to "The hardest worker award", you can come up with other great ideas. And of course, the award goes to...


8. The good rumor

good rumorHave you ever spread a good word around the office about someone? It's time to start. A way to cheer your colleague up is to spread a good rumor about him. Talk to some of his colleagues and spread some good things about him. Important! Talk to people that you can't keep a secret and are sure to get the word out. Or at least tell the guys what you are trying to do and ask them to do so that the word gets to their colleague.


9. Somebody likes you

like youMake him feel good, by telling him that you just overheard two of his female colleagues (he must like at least one of them) talking about him and saying that they like him, that he's nice and funny. This will definitely cheer him up! Remember, talk about someone he likes or admires.


10. A chat with his boss

bossTalk to his boss (if possible) and tell him that your colleague is felling a little blue and that he may need some cheering up. Maybe your boos could say something good (something that truly likes about this colleague) in front of a couple of people. Make sure that your colleague is around to hear what his boss is saying about him.

If last night you saw a game and you know that he loves that sport, a team, start talking about that. This will work only if he likes some kind of sport. If he doesn't, don't do this.

Get his wife/girlfriend's phone number and call her and tell her that he's husband/boyfriend is sad and ask her if she could give him a call and try to cheer him up. She will ussualy do it and she will know how to cheer your colleague.



13. The contest

contestDid you ever take place in a joke contest? How about starting on right now? This is a great way to cheer up your male colleague. You start a great joke contest between him and you. However tells the funniest jokes has to buy the other one a couple of beers after work. Some other colleague(s) could be the judge of the contest. This may get even more interesting if others want to join your game.

Another way is to do this by emailing your jokes so that your boss doesn't know what you are doing. Send him a funny joke by email and tell him to respond with another one. This will get the fire started.


14. I like that

I like thatWhat do you like about this colleague? Whatever it is, say it. This is the perfect time to do so. Maybe, you like the way he dresses. Then, compliment him. Tell him: "Hey, Andy you sure look great today. How do you do it, man? You always have the coolest ties in this office and the cleanest shoes. I can never keep my shoes clean. Maybe you could tell my your secret?"


15. Take him for a ride

If you have a great car that you know your colleague likes, tell him that you will take him for a ride after work, or tell him that you will even let him drive it! If he is a fan, he will be thrilled about this and he will bursting with energy and joy the whole day.
